Ferroli F10 on a gas boiler: outlet sensor fault

Quick answer
Ferroli F10 means a fault in the boiler's outlet sensor. Note whether it clears by itself; if it stays, do not open the boiler and call an authorised technician to check the sensor and its wiring.
Safety first
Stop and check this first
- If you smell gas, do not reset: do not touch switches or light flames, open windows, close the gas valve if it is within reach, leave and call your distributor's emergency number from outside. Ferroli says to disconnect the boiler when it fails and have it repaired only by an authorised technician.
- Do not open the boiler to move cables or connectors: there is mains voltage and hot parts inside. Checking the sensor is the authorised technician's job.
Safe checks you can perform
- Whether F10 clears by itself
- Water or damp near the boiler
- Sensor and wiring check by the technician

What a technician must be able to justify
Technician visit
These are the steps they must carry out and show you. Tick them as they work: if steps are skipped, do not accept a part swap.
These are not instructions for opening or handling the equipment yourself. They are the checks that should support a technical conclusion.
Outlet sensor measurement
What they doThe technician measures the sensor's resistance with a multimeter and compares it with Ferroli's specification for the water temperature.
They must show youthe measured value against the specification.
In writingthe value and the decision taken.
Wiring and connector check
What they doThe technician checks the sensor cable for shorts or breaks and inspects the connectors.
They must show youthe connector or cable section checked.
In writingthe repair done or the part number of the replaced sensor.
Before accepting a part or repair
Nothing has been shown yet. Do not accept a part swap based on the code alone.
Follow these steps
Note: Follow the documented order. An error code identifies the affected system, but it does not prove by itself which part has failed.
Whether F10 clears by itself
- Who:
- you.
- How:
- F faults are temporary and Ferroli clears them automatically when the value returns to normal. Watch the display without pressing anything.
- Result that matters:
- whether F10 disappears or stays.
- If it clears and does not return:
- note the date and mention it at the service.
- If it stays or A10 appears:
- call an authorised technician.
- Evidence to keep:
- a photo of the display with the code and the time.

Water or damp near the boiler
- Who:
- you.
- How:
- without opening the boiler, look for drips under it or damp on the casing.
- Result that matters:
- whether water may have reached the wiring.
- If there are drips:
- tell the technician; they can affect cables and connectors.
- If everything is dry:
- the fault is in the sensor or an internal cable.
- Evidence to keep:
- photos of any drips.

Sensor and wiring check by the technician
- Who:
- authorised technician.
- How:
- checks the outlet sensor's wiring and measures the sensor.
- Result that matters:
- whether the sensor or the cable has failed.
- If the cable is shorted or broken:
- that confirms the cause and it is repaired.
- If the cable is fine and the sensor reads out of range:
- the sensor is replaced.
- Evidence to keep:
- a report with the measured value and what was repaired.
Ferroli reserves repairs and component replacement for authorised technicians: opening the boiler is not the user's job.

What it means
In the BlueHelix Tech RRT table, F10 (and A10) is an outlet sensor fault; the return sensor has its own code, F11. Ferroli gives three causes: faulty sensor, wiring short circuited or wiring broken, and says to check the wiring or replace the sensor. Without a valid reading from that sensor the boiler cannot regulate safely. The code does not say whether the sensor or the cable has failed.

Symptoms and causes
Probable causes · in order
- Faulty outlet sensorPossible
Ferroli gives this first. Measuring the sensor separates it: a value out of specification with a sound cable means the sensor.
Evidence: Ferroli BLUEHELIX TECH RRT 28 C instrucciones de uso instalación y mantenimiento
- Short circuited wiringPossible
A bare or pinched cable against the casing gives an impossible reading. The technician sees it when checking the cable route.
Evidence: Ferroli BLUEHELIX TECH RRT 28 C instrucciones de uso instalación y mantenimiento
- Broken wiringPossible
A loose or corroded connector or a cut cable leaves the circuit open. A continuity test separates it from the sensor.
