Charger offline
Ohme Charger offline in the app: the EV charger lost connection

Risk level
Low
Usually safe to check without specialist tools.
Urgency
Medium
Quick answer
If the Ohme app shows the charger offline, it has lost its connection to the server. Ohme recommends a power cycle: unplug the car, switch off its dedicated breaker, wait 15 minutes and switch the power back on.
Safety first
Stop and check this first
- Do not open the consumer unit or the charger: only look at and operate the dedicated breaker from outside and, if it trips again, call the installer.
Safe checks you can perform
- Check the connection status in the app and on the charger
- See whether the charger breaker is off or tripped
- 15 minute power cycle

What a technician must be able to justify
Technician visit
These are the steps they must carry out and show you. Tick them as they work: if steps are skipped, do not accept a part swap.
These are not instructions for opening or handling the equipment yourself. They are the checks that should support a technical conclusion.
Connectivity diagnosis by Ohme customer care
What they doIf the charger will not come back online or goes offline often, the Ohme team reviews its server connection and firmware.
They must show youthe charger's connection history and the cause they find (coverage, firmware or other).
In writingthe case number, the cause identified and the fix applied or proposed.
Circuit check by the installer if the breaker trips
What they doIf the charger's dedicated breaker trips again, the installer or an electrician checks the circuit and its protection with the unit isolated.
They must show youthe circuit measurements and the test of the charger's protective device.
In writingthe measured values, the cause of the trip and what was corrected.
Before accepting a part or repair
Nothing has been shown yet. Do not accept a part swap based on the code alone.
Follow these steps
Note: Follow the documented order. An error code identifies the affected system, but it does not prove by itself which part has failed.
Check the connection status in the app and on the charger
- Who:
- you, no tools.
- How:
- in the Ohme app open My Charger and check for Online with a green dot at the top. Without the app, look at the charger: the Home Pro shows screens such as Connecting to the internet, Scanning cell towers or Trying to reconnect while it is not connected; on the ePod the rightmost LED blinks orange while connecting and the left part of the bar is solid green when online; on the Ohme Go a small pair of arrows shows top right.
- Result that matters:
- confirming the charger really is offline and what state it stays in.
- If it shows online:
- the drop was temporary and nothing else is needed.
- If it stays offline or the screen is blank:
- move on to the breaker and the power cycle.
- Evidence to keep:
- a My Charger screenshot and a photo of the charger screen or lights with the time.
Evidence: My charger is offline
See whether the charger breaker is off or tripped
- Who:
- you, looking at the switch without opening any panel or cover.
- How:
- find the charger's dedicated breaker: either a stand alone switch near the charger or one in your home's main fuse box, usually labelled by the installer as EV charger or similar. Only look at its position from outside.
- Result that matters:
- knowing whether the charger has lost power.
- If the breaker is off:
- switch it on once; if it trips again, do not keep trying and call your installer or an electrician.
- If it is on:
- carry on with the 15 minute power cycle.
- Evidence to keep:
- a photo of the breaker and its label, and whether it had tripped.
Evidence: My charger is offline
15 minute power cycle
- Who:
- you, once you have identified the charger's dedicated breaker.
- How:
- follow Ohme's steps: unplug the charger from the vehicle, switch the electricity supply to the charger off at its dedicated breaker, keep it off for 15 minutes to drain any remaining power and switch it on again. The charger reboots, reconnects and performs any required updates. An Ohme Go should not need this: contact Ohme instead.
- Result that matters:
- My Charger showing Online with the green dot again.
- If it is back online:
- note the date in case it happens again.
- If it does not come back or goes offline often:
- contact Ohme customer care.
- Evidence to keep:
- the time you switched off and on and the app status afterwards.

What it means
The Ohme Help Centre explains that the charger should always stay online, but it can lose connectivity because of a drop in 4G coverage in the area, after completing a firmware update, or because its dedicated breaker switch has been turned off or has tripped. The fix it gives is a power cycle: unplug the car, switch the charger's breaker off for 15 minutes and switch it on again. You then check the status in the app (My Charger, Online with a green dot) or on the charger itself. The alert on its own never proves that a part is faulty.
