Quick answer

On De'Longhi Tasciugo AriaDry Multi DDSX220 and DDSX225 units, E1 means room humidity is too low or high to measure, or a faulty probe. Move the unit to another room within its limits; if it stays, call service.

Safety first

Stop and check this first

  • Do not open the unit to clean or move the probe: De'Longhi says to call the Service Centre if E1 persists.

Safe checks you can perform

  • Unit model
  • Room conditions
  • Test in another room

Leave these tasks to a qualified professional

What a technician must be able to justify

Technician visit

These are the steps they must carry out and show you. Tick them as they work: if steps are skipped, do not accept a part swap.

These are not instructions for opening or handling the equipment yourself. They are the checks that should support a technical conclusion.

  1. Probe check

What they doThe De'Longhi service technician checks the humidity probe and its connection and compares its reading with a reference instrument.

They must show youthe probe reading against the reference instrument.

In writingthe part replaced, its reference and the reason.

  2. Operating test after the repair

What they doThe technician runs the unit in conditions within the limits and confirms E1 does not appear.

They must show youthe unit running without E1 and the test conditions.

In writingthe test and its result.

Before accepting a part or repair

Nothing has been shown yet. Do not accept a part swap based on the code alone.

Follow these steps

Note: Follow the documented order. An error code identifies the affected system, but it does not prove by itself which part has failed.

  1. Unit model

    No special tools

    Who:
    you.
    How:
check the model on the rating plate: DDSX220, DDSX225 or DEXD216F.
    Result that matters:
    knowing which alarm table applies.
    If it is a DDSX220 or DDSX225:
    try the room change.
    If it is a DEXD216F:
De'Longhi says to contact service (faulty probe).
    Evidence to keep:
    photo of the rating plate.

  2. Room conditions

    No special tools

    Who:
    you.
    How:
check with a room thermometer and hygrometer whether the room is between 2 °C and 30 °C and between 30 and 90 % humidity.
    Result that matters:
whether the unit is working within its limits.
If it is outside the limits:
that may be the cause; test in another room.
    If it is within:
the fault points to the probe.
    Evidence to keep:
photo of the thermometer and hygrometer.

  3. Test in another room

    No special tools

    Who:
    you.
    How:
move the unit to a room with humidity and temperature within the limits and switch it on.
    Result that matters:
    whether E1 clears.
    If it clears:
the cause was the humidity in the previous room.
    If it stays:
call the De'Longhi Service Centre, as the manual says.
    Evidence to keep:
note of the room used and the result.

What it means

In the alarm table of the DDSX220 and DDSX225, De'Longhi gives two causes for E1: room humidity too low or too high to be measured correctly, or a faulty probe. The operating limits are 2 °C to 30 °C and 30 to 90 % relative humidity. If the problem stays after moving the unit to another room within those limits, call the Service Centre. On the DEXD216F, E1, E2 or E3 are attributed to a faulty probe. The code alone does not tell which cause it is, which is why the room change test comes first on the DDSX models.

Warnings and stop conditions

  • Loweditorial warning

Do not open the unit to clean or move the probe: De'Longhi says to call the Service Centre if E1 persists.

Symptoms and causes

Probable causes · in order

  • Humidity outside the measuring range (DDSX220, DDSX225)Possible

If the room is below 30 % or above 90 % humidity, E1 clears when the unit is moved to a room within the limits.

Evidence: De'Longhi Tasciugo AriaDry Multi DDSX225 instructions for use

  • Faulty probePossible

If E1 stays within the limits, De'Longhi attributes it to the probe; on the DEXD216F it is the only cause given.
