E1
Teka E1 on a dishwasher: water fill time exceeded fault

Risk level
Low
Usually safe to check without specialist tools.
Urgency
Medium
Quick answer
On Teka LP and DW series dishwashers, error code E1 means water filling exceeded the 4-minute preset time: the drain pump empties the tub and the cycle stops. Turn the water tap fully on and check that water pressure is at least 0.04 MPa; if E1 stays, book a service technician.
Safety first
Stop and check this first
- On models where the inlet valve is built into the Aquastop hose, the hose contains 220-240 V electrical parts: never cut or tamper with the inlet hose and unplug the appliance before any service work.
- Never bypass the pressure switch or flowmeter or open the base panel yourself; testing 220-240 V valves, pumps and the control board is strictly for a qualified technician.
Safe checks you can perform
- Ensure the water supply tap is turned fully on
- Verify household water pressure is not below 0.04 MPa
- Note the automatic pump-out and switch the dishwasher off
- Service test step 1 and multimeter component diagnostics
Leave these tasks to a qualified professional
- Do not attempt this professional task: Test the inlet or Aquastop valve coil (4.4 to 4.8 kΩ) and run test step 1
- Do not attempt this professional task: Check the flowmeter in diode mode and inspect the pressure switch terminal
- Do not attempt this professional task: Measure the drain pump coil (235 Ω ± 15 Ω) and verify PCB valve output
What a technician must be able to justify
Technician visit
These are the steps they must carry out and show you. Tick them as they work: if steps are skipped, do not accept a part swap.
These are not instructions for opening or handling the equipment yourself. They are the checks that should support a technical conclusion.
Test the inlet or Aquastop valve coil (4.4 to 4.8 kΩ) and run test step 1
What they doThe technician runs service test step 1 (display 05, filling 3.6 L or 3 L on 45 cm models) and measures the 220-240 V inlet valve or Aquastop coil resistance, which must be 4.4 to 4.8 kΩ, replacing the valve if it fails to open.
They must show youthe kΩ resistance reading across the inlet valve coil and normal water loading in service test step 1.
In writingcode E1, the measured inlet valve coil resistance (spec 4.4 to 4.8 kΩ) and any valve part replaced.
Check the flowmeter in diode mode and inspect the pressure switch terminal
What they doUsing a multimeter in diode function across the two flowmeter connector pins while water enters, the technician checks for intermittent beeps, inspects the pressure switch and reconnects any loose pressure switch wire terminal.
They must show youthe multimeter intermittent beep test on the flowmeter and the secured pressure switch connector.
In writingthe flowmeter diode test result, pressure switch inspection and whether a terminal was reconnected or part replaced.
Measure the drain pump coil (235 Ω ± 15 Ω) and verify PCB valve output
What they doThe technician checks drain operation in service test step 5 (display 01 for 30 seconds), measures the 220-240 V drain pump coil resistance (235 Ω ± 15 Ω) and verifies that the control PCB drives the inlet valve.
They must show youthe ohm reading on the drain pump coil and the service test reaching step 6 (F).
In writingthe drain pump resistance (spec 235 Ω ± 15 Ω), PCB output check and final test result.
Before accepting a part or repair
Nothing has been shown yet. Do not accept a part swap based on the code alone.
Follow these steps
Note: Follow the documented order. An error code identifies the affected system, but it does not prove by itself which part has failed.
Ensure the water supply tap is turned fully on
- Who:
- you.
- How:
- check the shut-off valve feeding your Teka dishwasher and turn it to the full opening position, which Teka's service manual marks as '[User to check]' for error E1.
- Result that matters:
- making sure water flow into the inlet hose is not blocked or throttled at the tap.
- If the supply tap was closed or only partly open, open it fully and start a programme to see if E1 clears.
- If the supply tap was already fully open, move on to checking the household water pressure.
- Evidence to keep:
- whether the water supply tap was closed or partly shut when E1 appeared.

Verify household water pressure is not below 0.04 MPa
- Who:
- you.
- How:
- open a nearby kitchen tap to confirm there is no water outage and that supply pressure is steady (Teka specifies at least 0.04 MPa in the E1 troubleshooting table).
- Result that matters:
- ruling out low mains water pressure preventing the tub from reaching wash level within 4 minutes.
- If water flow from the kitchen tap is weak, wait until normal mains pressure returns before running the dishwasher.
- If kitchen tap flow is strong, the restriction or fault is inside the dishwasher's inlet circuit and needs a technician.
- Evidence to keep:
- how strong the water flow was at the kitchen tap when the dishwasher stopped with E1.
Evidence: Teka Manual de Servicio MSDW16012 ES gama lavavajillas LP y DW · Teka Service Manual MSDW16012 EN dishwashers LP and DW
Note the automatic pump-out and switch the dishwasher off
- Who:
- you.
- How:
- listen for the drain pump emptying the tub before the machine stops on E1 (or with LED3 lit on models without a screen), then switch the appliance off at the ON/OFF button.
- Result that matters:
- confirming the safety drain behaviour described in the manual and leaving the unit safely off.
- If after opening the tap and restarting once the cycle fills normally, monitor the next wash.
- If E1 returns after 4 minutes, turn off the water tap and contact an authorised service technician.
- Evidence to keep:
- whether E1 appeared on the display or via LED3 and whether the drain pump emptied the tub.
Evidence: Teka Manual de Servicio MSDW16012 ES gama lavavajillas LP y DW · Teka Service Manual MSDW16012 EN dishwashers LP and DW
Service test step 1 and multimeter component diagnostics
- Who:
- qualified service technician.
- How:
- launch service test step 1 (display 05, loading 3.6 litres or 3 litres on 45 cm models at roughly 0.04 A) and test the inlet valve, flowmeter, pressure switch, drain pump and PCB.
- Result that matters:
- pinpointing whether E1 is caused by the inlet valve, flowmeter, pressure switch wiring, drain pump or PCB.
- If the pressure switch wire terminal is loose or the flowmeter fails the diode test, reconnect the terminal or replace the faulty sensor.
- If the inlet valve coil, pressure switch, drain pump or PCB is defective, replace the failed part.
- Evidence to keep:
- coil resistance readings, flowmeter diode-mode test result and service test step 1 completion.
Internal testing exposes 220-240 V wiring next to water paths and must only be carried out by a qualified technician.

What it means
In Teka's official service manual MSDW16012 for LP (such as LP8 820, LP8 840 or LP9 850) and DW (such as DW8 55 FI, DW8 57 FI or DW9 70 FI) dishwashers, error E1 means water filling has exceeded the preset 4-minute limit without reaching the washing level (on models without a display, LED1 and LED2 stay off while LED3 lights up). When E1 triggers, the drain pump runs to empty any water in the tub and the appliance stops showing E1. Seeing E1 on the dishwasher never proves by itself that the inlet valve or any other part is broken.
Warnings and stop conditions
- Mediumsource verified
On models where the inlet valve is built into the Aquastop hose, the hose contains 220-240 V electrical parts: never cut or tamper with the inlet hose and unplug the appliance before any service work.

Symptoms and causes
Probable causes · in order
- Water tap closed or supply pressure below 0.04 MPaCommon
The water supply tap is not turned on or the incoming mains pressure is below 0.04 MPa, which the service manual flags as the two user-checkable causes of E1.
Evidence: Teka Manual de Servicio MSDW16012 ES gama lavavajillas LP y DW · Teka Service Manual MSDW16012 EN dishwashers LP and DW
- Faulty water inlet valve or Aquastop not openingPossible
The 220-240 V inlet solenoid valve (or Aquastop valve in the inlet pipe on equipped models) fails to open, so no water enters the tub during the 4-minute fill window.
Evidence: Teka Manual de Servicio MSDW16012 ES gama lavavajillas LP y DW · Teka Service Manual MSDW16012 EN dishwashers LP and DW
- Flowmeter failure, broken pressure switch or loose terminalPossible
A non-working flowmeter (FM), a broken pressure switch stopping the inlet process, or a loose wire terminal on the pressure switch prevents proper fill detection.
Evidence: Teka Manual de Servicio MSDW16012 ES gama lavavajillas LP y DW · Teka Service Manual MSDW16012 EN dishwashers LP and DW
- Drain pump failure or control PCB unable to drive the valveLess common
The manual also lists a broken drain pump that cannot empty the tub or a faulty control PCB that fails to power the inlet valve among the causes of E1.
