Risk level

Low

Usually safe to check without specialist tools.

Urgency

Medium

Quick answer

On a Zanussi dishwasher, i10 or i11 (also AL5, C1 or one beep) means no water is coming in. Open the dishwasher tap fully, check there is water at good pressure in the home and make sure the fill hose is not kinked.

Safety first

Stop and check this first

  • Water and electricity: close the tap before loosening the hose and keep the appliance unplugged; dry any drips before plugging back in.
  • If the fill hose is damaged, Zanussi says to unplug the appliance and shut off the water straight away: do not use it until an engineer has checked it.

Safe checks you can perform

  • Tap and water pressure
  • Fill hose and inlet filter
  • Filters and drain hose

Leave these tasks to a qualified professional

  • Do not attempt this professional task: Inlet valve test
  • Do not attempt this professional task: Drain installation check

What a technician must be able to justify

Technician visit

These are the steps they must carry out and show you. Tick them as they work: if steps are skipped, do not accept a part swap.

These are not instructions for opening or handling the equipment yourself. They are the checks that should support a technical conclusion.

  1. Inlet valve test

What they doWith the appliance disconnected from the mains, the engineer checks the inlet valve and its connector, whether it receives voltage when the control calls for water, and measures the incoming flow.

They must show youthe valve and flow measurements against the manufacturer's specification.

In writingwhat was measured, the result and, if the valve is replaced, its part number and why.

  2. Drain installation check

What they doThe engineer checks drain hose height and length and the trap connection against Zanussi's installation measurements.

They must show youthe measured height and length against 40 to 85 cm and 400 cm.

In writingthe measurements found, what was corrected and the fill test afterwards.

Before accepting a part or repair

Nothing has been shown yet. Do not accept a part swap based on the code alone.

Follow these steps

Note: Follow the documented order. An error code identifies the affected system, but it does not prove by itself which part has failed.

  1. Tap and water pressure

    No special tools

    Who:
you, with a 5 litre bucket.
    How:
if the dishwasher tap was closed, switch the appliance off and open it fully. Then fill a 5 litre bucket from one tap and time it. Do not run other water appliances while testing.
    Result that matters:
whether the bucket fills in 30 seconds or less.
If it takes longer than 30 seconds:
Zanussi says pressure is too low for the appliance; contact your water supplier.
    If it fills in time:
rules out pressure and supply; move on to the hose.
    Evidence to keep:
the bucket fill time and the position the tap was in.

Evidence: Dishwasher displays error code i10, i11, AL5, C1, beeps once, or the warning light flashes once | Zanussi

  2. Fill hose and inlet filter

    No special tools

    Who:
you, with the tap closed and the appliance unplugged.
    How:
check the fill hose along its visible length. The filter sits in the connector next to the tap; with the tap closed, unscrew the hose and look at it, following the manual to clean it.
    Result that matters:
whether the hose is kinked or damaged and whether the filter has dirt or scale.
    If the hose is damaged:
unplug, keep the tap closed and book an engineer, as Zanussi says; do not use it.
If the filter was dirty and you clean it:
refit, open the tap, run a programme and check i10 does not return.
    Evidence to keep:
a photo of the filter before cleaning and of the hose.

Evidence: Dishwasher displays error code i10, i11, AL5, C1, beeps once, or the warning light flashes once | Zanussi

  3. Filters and drain hose

    No special tools

    Who:
    you, without opening the appliance.
    How:
clean the filters at the bottom of the tub as the manual says. Check the drain hose is no longer than 400 cm, the drain point is between 40 and 85 cm high and the hose is not kinked. If it was installed recently, check the blanking plug was removed from the trap inlet.
    Result that matters:
whether the drain installation meets those measurements.
If something is off or the plug was still in:
correct it or ask the installer to, and run a programme.
If everything is right and i10 returns:
    Zanussi recommends a service visit.
    Evidence to keep:
photos of the filters, the hose and the measured height.

Evidence: Dishwasher displays error code i10, i11, AL5, C1, beeps once, or the warning light flashes once | Zanussi

What it means

Zanussi groups i10 and i11 as a water inlet problem: the control opened the fill and not enough water arrived. Supply or pressure may be missing, the tap may be closed, the hose kinked or the hose filter blocked with scale. Zanussi also asks you to check the drain, because a badly placed drain hose or a blanking plug left in the trap upsets the water level too. The code does not name a failed part; if all of that is fine, a visit is needed.

Symptoms and causes

Probable causes · in order

  • Tap closed or low pressureCommon

Zanussi lists it first. Tell it apart with the bucket test: if one tap cannot fill 5 litres in 30 seconds, pressure is low.

Evidence: Dishwasher displays error code i10, i11, AL5, C1, beeps once, or the warning light flashes once | Zanussi

  • Several appliances using water at oncePossible

Fits if the alert shows while the washing machine or another appliance is also filling. It goes when they run separately.

Evidence: Dishwasher displays error code i10, i11, AL5, C1, beeps once, or the warning light flashes once | Zanussi

  • Kinked hose or scaled inlet filterPossible

Fits if the hose is pinched or the filter in the connector by the tap shows dirt or visible scale.

Evidence: Dishwasher displays error code i10, i11, AL5, C1, beeps once, or the warning light flashes once | Zanussi

  • Drain badly installed or plug left in the trapPossible

Fits if the appliance was installed or moved recently. Zanussi asks you to check drain hose height and length and the trap plug.
