C-F1
Samsung C-F1 on an oven: EEPROM read or write fault

Risk level
Medium
Proceed carefully and stop if the check is unclear.
Urgency
Medium
Quick answer
On a Samsung oven, C-F1 appears during a read or write of the electronics' EEPROM memory. Turn the oven off and on again; if it stays, cut the power for 30 seconds or more and reconnect it.
Safety first
Stop and check this first
- Do not pull the oven out or remove panels to look at the board: the electronics and the heating element are mains connected and only a qualified technician should open it.
Safe checks you can perform
- Which C-F code is showing
- Switching the oven off and on
- Power cut of at least 30 seconds
Leave these tasks to a qualified professional
- Do not attempt this professional task: Control board and power supply diagnosis
- Do not attempt this professional task: Power cut test after the repair
What a technician must be able to justify
Technician visit
These are the steps they must carry out and show you. Tick them as they work: if steps are skipped, do not accept a part swap.
These are not instructions for opening or handling the equipment yourself. They are the checks that should support a technical conclusion.
Control board and power supply diagnosis
What they doThe technician reproduces the code and uses a multimeter to check the control board supply and the state of its connectors before deciding whether the board must be replaced.
They must show youthe code reproduced and the supply measured against Samsung's specification.
In writingthe cause found and, if the board is replaced, its part number and the reason.
Power cut test after the repair
What they doAfter the repair, the technician heats the oven, cuts the power for at least 30 seconds, reconnects it and checks C-F1 does not reappear.
They must show youthe oven heating with no code after the power cut.
In writingthe test carried out, the result and the date.
Before accepting a part or repair
Nothing has been shown yet. Do not accept a part swap based on the code alone.
Follow these steps
Note: Follow the documented order. An error code identifies the affected system, but it does not prove by itself which part has failed.
Which C-F code is showing
- Who:
- you, no tools.
- How:
- photograph the display and check whether it reads C-F1, C-F0 or C-F2. Note the model from the oven rating plate.
- Result that matters:
- knowing which of the three codes you have before you call.
- If it is C-F1:
- the fault happened while reading or writing the memory; go on to the restart.
- If it is C-F0 or C-F2:
- tell the service centre exactly that, because they point to board or panel communication.
- Evidence to keep:
- photo of the display and the model.

Switching the oven off and on
- Who:
- you.
- How:
- turn the oven off with its control and switch it on again, which is Samsung's first step.
- Result that matters:
- whether a simple restart clears the code.
- If it clears and the oven works:
- it was a one-off; note the date in case it returns.
- If C-F1 comes back:
- move on to the power cut.
- Evidence to keep:
- note of what the oven did after the restart.

Power cut of at least 30 seconds
- Who:
- you, at the consumer unit breaker that feeds the oven or at its plug if you can reach it.
- How:
- leave the oven without power for 30 seconds or more, then reconnect it. Do not pull the oven out of its housing or touch any wiring.
- Result that matters:
- whether the fault survives a full restart of the electronics.
- If C-F1 does not return:
- use the oven normally and watch whether it reappears.
- If C-F1 returns:
- the fault is persistent; book Samsung service and share the photos.
- Evidence to keep:
- time of the power cut and the result.

What it means
Samsung UK says C-F1 only occurs during an EEPROM read or write, the memory where the oven electronics keep their data. In the same family it lists C-F0, no communication between the main and sub boards, and C-F2, a communication problem between the touch circuit and the microcontrollers. All three share the restart and power cut routine. If the code will not clear, Samsung refers you to its service centre. C-F1 tells you which operation failed, not whether the memory, the board or its power supply is to blame.
Warnings and stop conditions
- Mediumeditorial warning
Do not pull the oven out or remove panels to look at the board: the electronics and the heating element are mains connected and only a qualified technician should open it.

Symptoms and causes
Probable causes · in order
- One-off memory faultPossible
An EEPROM read or write that fails once. The restart settles it: if C-F1 does not come back, nothing more is needed.
Evidence: Check out the information codes on my oven
- Control board or its memoryPossible
If C-F1 survives the power cut, the fault is persistent. Telling memory, board and power supply apart needs a technician.
Evidence: Check out the information codes on my oven
- It is actually C-F0 or C-F2Possible
They look alike on the display, but Samsung links them to communication between boards or with the touch panel, not to the memory. That changes what the technician checks.
